Open the first four Tuesdays of each month.

The Aldergrove Food Bank is located in the AV Centre (formerly Elks Hall) 27309 Fraser Highway Aldergrove, BC.

Its operation and layout are similar to the Langley Food Bank. However, when compared to the Langley community, Aldergrove is much smaller and consequently distributes fewer groceries. There are about 110 registered families and on average the AFB distributes 70 hampers plus approximately 40 servings of soup and sandwiches every week.

The AFB is entirely staffed by volunteers, with approximately 6-10 volunteers helping with grocery distribution each week.

In Canada, hunger is largely a hidden problem. Many Canadians are simply not aware that large numbers of children, women and men in this country often go to bed hungry.

The 93 food banks in British Columbia help feed 100,000 people each month. 56% of these food banks are rural food banks with a population of under 10,000 people in their communities. These communities have limited employment opportunities and limited donors.

Objectives of the Langley Food Bank

  • To provide a minimum of 2 day's worth of nutritious food (breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks) for our clients and their families each week.

  • To develop relational bridges with clients in order to discover other needs they may have.

  • To find a way to meet these needs whether they are physical, social, or spiritual in nature.

Client Eligibility Requirements

In order to register as a client of the Langley Food Bank, potential clients must be a resident of Langley and make an appointment for an intake interview. For the interview, they are asked to bring documentation of their residency in Langley, all the members of the household, as well as all household income and expenses.

The objective is to discover the best way to help. We want to do our best to provide a helping hand, not free handouts that reinforce long term dependency.
